If you have seen the movie 'Project X' you will know that things get pretty wild at their party. You only have to view the trailer to know this is a bad ass party you could only go to in your dreams. I even met with one of the guys from Project X before and he was so chilled out, I was really disappointed. So since this party was titled 'a project X style party' I thought all my dreams had come true!
The band's PR company advertised on Twitter 'Weird & wonderful needed for @ROOM94 video shoot this weekend! So jugglers, fire breathers, lap dancers, lions and tigers etc get in touch'. I started to get really overly excited for this party when I saw the bit about tigers, I thought we were going to be living out some Hangover style fantasy. When we arrived in quiet, boring Enfield and we couldn't find the house, I started to think maybe the party had been cancelled. Now a party on the scale of Project X, I'm sure you should be able to hear it from the station. With not a Tesco in sight, we were completely sober and in need of some dutch courage. If the party was as wild as they made it sound I was pretty nervous about entering.
So we got a taxi to the nearest off licence where I accidentally picked up 5% wine. We drank it out on the streets like teenagers then approached the house, the house was pretty huge! Big enough for a Project X party. All the houses in that area were pretty huge actually, but it felt more Made in Chelsea than Project X. As we got nearer, I could hear 'Milkshake' by Kelis. I already started to panic that this party was awful when I heard that dreaded beat. When we walked in, it was awkward silence.
We got upstairs, into a kind of sad looking room with flashing lights, blow up toys and a few teenagers 'drunk' from probably WKD and lollipops. To me the scene was like an episode of Skins where if in that episode, everyone took sleeping pills instead of ecstasy.
The party was as extinct as that dinosaur.
I decided to introduce myself to the band, rude is not the word I am looking for. They have about 100 fans and they are already acting like they are One Direction. After trying to say one line to the band's lead singer, he complained he was too drunk to speak to me and a girl that seemed to be his girlfriend came flying over, as if I was going to steal him like some kind of Caroline Flack. As the night progressed, I decided maybe we weren't drunk enough. So we took to the bar where we found out we had to pay for drinks. This band invited us down to this house, for a project X party and we had to PAY for drinks. I complained loudly however, and got a free shot. It still wasn't enough to keep me alive. Soon enough I was slumped in the corner charging my phone, SnapChat was even more interesting. In fact, I accidentally sent myself a Snap about how boring the party was.
We had been told we could stay in the house all night which was a relief since we booked no where to stay. However... *SHOCK HORROR* a few hours later, somebody had broken a PLANT POT and we got kicked out of the house. One guy was even sick on the floor! How Project X of him. So we all got kicked out on the streets and sent to another house. This saw the home owner and band picking on us all, telling us we couldn't even sit down, we simply had to go to the other house because of this plant pot drama. So we went to the other house and it was a lot like an airport departure lounge, a lot of sad miserable looking people waiting to go home. I was cold and my bum was outrageously sore from sitting on the floor. It was soon time for us to catch the first train home and on reflection, I realized the National Express journey was more turnt up than the actual party.
An actual scene from the 'departure lounge' looking second house
The bands PR company are now trying to make the party sound insanely good on Twitter to promote their up coming video. The video might look amazing, who knows? but whatever happens, know that it is all smoke and mirrors. From what I heard a few fans got lucky with the band on the trampoline outside though, very classy ladies. The moral of the story is Project X parties aren't worth the hassle... I would have probably had a wilder time drinking hot chocolate, wrapped up slanket whilst watching it on DVD.
